What is IGERT?
IGERT is an acronym for Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship, a program funded by the National Science Foundation. In general terms, IGERT is a unique study and training opportunity primarily for PhD students. At UCD, the IGERT program has a focus on interdisciplinary study in sustainable urban infrastructure. The purpose of IGERT is to meet the needs of the future buy exploring untraveled pathways in cooperative education. That means as an IGERT student, I have a tremendous opportunity to learn with and from a variety of very intelligent people both in and out of the academic arena, encompassing a broad spectrum of interests. A core concept of IGERT is to address advanced learning as an explorative process of discovery through theory and practical application. As I work through the program I plan to describe experiences that will hopefully be of interest and may be of assistance to prospective IGERT candidates.
Feel free to contact me with any questions that may arise. I will do my best to provide answers, or direct your inquiries to those who may be better able to address them. Below are details of the UCD IGERT program.
